About Us

Meet 1st Wednesday of month 10.30am

Living with diabetes can be difficult at times and you can feel isolated if you don’t know anyone else others living with diabetes. That’s where Support Groups can be beneficial. They can help to connect you with other people living with diabetes so you can share experiences and information or create new friends and networks. Some Support Groups are run face-to-face, some are online while others are invitation-only Facebook pages.

There are many positive benefits to be gained from connecting with others in similar situation, including:

  • Sharing experiences, skills and knowledge, increasing your management skills and motivation
  • Meeting new friends
  • Feeling more supported and less alone
  • Learning tips for accessing health professionals or recommendations

While there are many benefits its important to remember that Support Groups do not

  • Replace professional health advice. So before making changes to your diabetes management following discussions at Support Groups you should always check with your diabetes educator or GP.
  • Suit everyone. some people prefer to just discuss their diabetes with their healthcare team
  • Answer all of your questions
